Second Life is a 3D online World imagined & created by residents

Second Life is imagined and created by its residents. A true beyond the Web2.0 technology that is being built with minimum influences from its creator Linden Labs.

Now that it has gone open source, the future looks even brighter. We have just heard the news that OnRez has a great new browser.

The grid is also going open source. Having said that I think it would be about 12 months where your island on your own windows 2003 server running .net2 is in stable condition to allow you to host your own. For now we have to rely on Linden Labs infra structure and host your island with them here.

SalarO is building a great orientation area for the DotNetNuke island to help you quickly get acquainted with how to navigate around the place in SL.

Second Life News

SalarO is excited to announce that we have build a fantastic island in second life for DotNetNuke to help showcase products and services around both DotNetNuke technology as well as Second Life technology.

Both communities have a lot in common.

  • C# on both Mono and MS platform
  • Large Communities

In short there are so much to gain in building bridges between the two different yet same base technologies.

Building New Modules for SL

SalarO currently has 3 ambitious projects in building 3 amazing tools for Second Life using DotNetNuke technologies.

Metrics, that rather like the who is online module in DNN, will show the number of people presently in a SL island

Survey Module, is enhanced and can talk to Survey being taken inside SL with the result showing in RL inside your dotnetnuke portal.

Store Module, one of the biggest pains in DotNetNuke has been the difficulties of finding an easy to use yet stable Store module. SalarO has realized that the key is to separate the store logic from DNN. That way you will never have to worry about DNN upgrades and how it will affect your product sales. Most DNN store modules are notorious in laging behind DNN in versions. For example how much time have we been stuck on a version of Catalook that is stuck on a particular version of DNN. Since upgrading DNN breaks the store. With our new store module you will never have to worry about that. Please see the first example working right here in SalarO.com
